If you want a great meal that is fresh and delicious then we must suggest you visit The Lariat in Buena Vista, CO. They are the number one place in this small community for a great meal because they use fresh ingredients and everything is prepared properly. During our first visit, Jay had the orange chicken breast with forbidden rice and everything was perfect. The chicken breast was fully cooked but still moist. Trish had the steak with roasted potatoes and it was also cooked to a perfect medium well, just as she ordered. The potatoes had a nice firm crunch on the outside but still soft in the middle.

During our second visit, we tried the Fish and Chips. Now, this one many say you can’t get it wrong but I totally disagree. We have had Fish and Chips many places that were just awful. But I am happy to report that The Lariat Buena Vista gets this one right! The fish is large fillets of Haddock that are beer battered in house and fried to a crunchy crisp exterior while the fish inside is still moist and tasty. And the chips! They are skin-on cut fries cooked to a crispy exterior while leaving the potato inside slightly firm and very tasty.

Finally, let’s discuss the dessert. We had the Brownie a-la-mode. The vanilla ice cream was a rich and creamy smooth ice cream and the homemade chocolate brownie was fantastic. And they offer open mic night every Wednesday along with tons of other live music venues. Finally, let’s discuss how awesome all of the staff have been every time we ate here. From the hostess to the waitress, everyone is always a pleasure to talk with. If you have been here or plan to go please leave a few comments below and let us know how your visit went!

Jay 'n Trish

We are Jay and Trish, and we're traveling full time in our 38-foot 5th wheel across America. We like to support small business along the way so we always look for that special place the locals like to eat. We also look for full hook up camping spots to basecamp for a week or two while we visit the local communities so we can report back to you what we find. We will give you our honest opinion of each place we stay, eat and work out. Our Beagle Boxer mix, Echo, will also give you reviews on dog friendly places and local dog parks that she visits.
